Certain Foods have a long standing reputation as being aphrodisiac. Well you don’t usually get a reputation without good reason! Here’s our favourite Crucial Food RAW chocolate recipe  – broken down into its various aphrodisiac properties.

Ingredients

  • 100g Cocoa butter
  • 6 tbsp of Cacao Powder
  • 2-4tbsp of Sweet Freedom
  • small pinch of Himalayan pink salt or rock salt

Flavourings

Cacao – Known to stimulate the heart it contains theobromine, tryptophan and PEA which are all chemicals in the body related to feeling good and love.
Cardamom – Is used in Arabian countries to strengthen the flavour of coffee and is also chewed to keep breath fresh which has got to help with romance!
Chilli – Contains an active component called capsaicin which is known to stimulate, say no more.
Pistachio – Women of the harems used to eat confectionary containing pistachio to keep their bodies fleshy. In those days it was still considered very sexy as it should be nowadays. Nothing wrong with a bit of flesh!

Method

Put the raw cocoa butter in a bowl over a pan of hot water. On a low heat, melt gently.

When it’s melted, add the cacao powder and mix well using a metal whisk. With a metal whisk you get all the ingredients off! Keep the heat low.

Add 2 tablespoons of Sweet Freedom, taste, then add more if you’d like it sweeter.

Remove from the heat once it’s all blended together. The mixture should be runny and easy to pour. If it isn’t you may need to add a little more cocoa butter. Keep mixing and tasting until you get a good flavour.

Flavour the chocolate yourself if you like with crushed pistachio, cardamom and salt, chilli and vanilla essence.

Pour into ice cube tays or silicone moulds, place in the freezer for around 2 hours and have yourselves a Happy Valentines Day!
